After the demise of traditional radio programming in the early 1960s, due in large part to the rapid growth in the popularity of television throughout the decade before, it appeared that the age of audio only entertainment was over. Except for a few isolated instances, such as the successful CBS Mystery Theater in the 1970s, radio broadcast stations had little to offer except music, news and the occasional talk program. Then, with the coming of the Internet age, things began to change. Beginning with series like Seeing Ear Theater in the 1990s, audio theater started to make a comeback.

Today, there are literally hundreds of amateur and professional audio productions scattered across the 'Net. These programs represent a wide range of genres from comedy and drama to science fiction and beyond. The works offered here are but a small portion of what there is out there. Enjoy, and let us know if there is something that should be added. We are always looking for good shows.

19 Nocturne Boulevard is an anthology series - half hour stories, ranging from horror to sci fi, from fantasy to dark social commentary and from humor to nothing funny about it... Since its debut in October of 2008, 19Noc has come out at least twice monthly (with bonus episodes!) ever since. Episodes of 19 Nocturne won the 2008 (The Outpost) and 2009 (The Rookie) Gold Mark Time awards for best science fiction audio drama, and the episode "Idiot Box" is a finalist in the 2012 Hoerspielsommer Leipzig audio festival in Germany.

Deadeye Kid

For years a notoriously fast and ruthless gunslinger working for the highest bidder, Lemuel Roberts turned over a new leaf nearly overnight - giving up the name, but not the gun, and trying to atone for the wrongs he'd done. But his reputation keeps popping up to plague him, and there are still places where he's a wanted man.

Edict Zero

EDICT ZERO was its original name, a codename assigned to a destination planet and the mission to reach it. New Earth, like Old Earth, is a planet of mostly water, but with even less land. It is a small world of five islands, each island a state in The Federation : the democratic entity otherwise known as 'Edict Two' which governs the bulk of humanity. Under the broad authority of its Attorney General, the civilian law enforcement utility Edict Three is a cluster of collaborating agencies such as the FIS -- an initialism for Federal Investigative Services. Like other agencies in Edict Three, the structure of the FIS is an amalgam of the Old Earth law enforcement agency models deemed most effective by historians and E-2's founding fathers. In response to the cataclysmic events on New Year's Day of the year 2415, the FIS assembled a task force at their headquarters in Capitol City to find the responsible party, eliminate the danger posed to the public, and deliver justice for the victims. In acknowledgement of the severity of the threat and the accordingly devastating consequences which could arise from the slightest oversight, Assistant Director Alan Dockstader authorized a special unit of the task force to pursue unusual leads and the alternate outside-the-box theories those leads may support. "Edict Zero - FIS" focuses on this small team of special agents and their investigations, which will put them at odds with the highest authority of humankind: Edict One. Whose secrets are getting harder to keep.

Space Casey

Some heroines will steal your heart. This one will steal your wallet. In the future, mankind has expanded to fill the solar system, but when a snarky con-woman steals the wrong spaceship, she finds herself stranded in a distant galaxy. Sword of the Crimson Tatters

Without and within, the world was dying. The brazen and base races of man gave birth to ages where greed for gain and violence flourished. Where honor and nobility were profaned while lies and unrestrained consumption were made sacred. Scars covered the Mother of Thunder. What once was wild, was now tamed and sickened. The light of the Unconquered Sun turned bloated and red as its blood flowed freely, and mankind continued to hasten its own death. Amidst the obsidian towers, horror-haunted wastelands, and shadowed tombs of this aged world, those who lurked behind the Tattered Sorrows woke to the sound of steel on steel and knew now was the time when mankind would either fall to its own insignificance or become as them beyond the boundaries of dualities, freed from the shackles of their baseness and their forgotten nobility. Without and within, the world was dying. And among the Tatters, crimson things began to move. The Sword of the Crimson Tatters, an original Sword and Sorcery Audio Drama set in a surreal world where a decadent Humanity is drawing its last breaths. Where Eldritch things and, perhaps, Hope rise up one last time before the final sunset.
